Out of the blue: fern
15May09
An unfolding fern among bluebells (that’s the hazy blue in the background):

It’s just a simple plant, but I find all those curves and edgy details exciting. The bluebells were fading, but they were great for color. Taken at Garden in the Woods, the wildflower arboretum of the New England Wildflower Society (http://www.newfs.org).

Really nice image Tom. I like that you have achieved good DOF while maintaining a clean background. There’s a lot of character in this fern and the colors overall are wonderful.
Tom, this is exquisite! I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for them while I’m out in the woods. Wow!
WOW!!! The fern is absolutely beautiful. And the use of the diffuse color of the bluebells in the background is brilliant! Certainly shows the eye of a professional. Excellent work.
Excellent stunning shot and a very nice composition. It is very sharp and the contrast is wonderful. I do not know how you do that. I’ll not be able to compose that nicely with plants and flowers.
I can certainly see why you photographed this – the curves are very cool. Nice work Thomas.
Everything about this-detail, color, background-perfect. Love the prickles!
What a pretty fern and a marvellous shot. Well done
This is a most unusual shot of a fern. Isn’t nature fantastic!
