Live oaks, foggy pastures
There’s a stand of Live Oaks near Novato, just off US 101, that I’ve admired for years, but I’ve never had the time to photograph. Earlier this month, I made the time. I hoped for soft early morning light and got a thick foggy morning instead:. Here are three views of these beautiful gnarly trees:

I think you should be very happy you got fog. These are ephemeral and beautiful.
I admit I wasn’t at first – but it grew on me. Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for these wonderful memories of Northern California where I lived and used to roam the hills.
Thanks for stopping in and commenting, as always.
Beautiful …
Thanks – I really love these trees.
A beautiful and imposing subject, all artfully captured! Although not what you had hoped for, the fog was the perfect foil for these majestic trees.
I got up before dawn, with high hopes for soft light, and colorful, interesting skies. It didn’t take too long to see that it made for a special scene – and it meant I could keep working until later in the morning. Thanks!
foggy mornings are mysterious and beautiful. you have captured these sentiments so well.
Thanks – this was a welcome change from closeup work. I don’t photograph at 24mm very often!
Very, very nice capture of the fog.
Thanks, David!
so clam and beautiful
Lovely. I hope that oak disease has slowed down. A beautiful tribute to these trees.
I love fog….fantastic, mysterious, ethereal images result, just like these, tom. The top pic is my fave.
