Dogbane portrait

Another dogbane beetle, this time looking straight at you:

A little threatening-looking, but they’re strictly vegetarian (strictly dogbane, that is).

A week later, the beetles are still around. As always, they never seem to stray far from the dogbane plant. I believe they spend their whole lifecycle around dogbane – the larvae are in the ground around the plant.
