Notes from the field, essays, and observations.
A pretty summer flower:
Most the scabiosa in this meadow are a pale pink, this one stood out for the intense color. I think of them as a garden flower, but these are growing wild – a garden escape, perhaps.
Delicate and beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks for your kind comment.
Why is it that beautiful plants often have such horrid-sounding names….scabiosa, scab….scabby….?
PS: Excellent capture, especially of the intensity of purple, a difficult colour to photograph and process well. Liked.
Thanks for commenting. Getting accurate color was tricky – mainly a matter of getting the exposure and white balance right.
Lovely, as always!
Thanks again for the kind words and for stopping in.
Love this, two of my favorite colors together!
Once I saw this color in the meadow, I couldn’t take my eyes away – it’s an unusual hue. Thanks!
Lovely. Focus is just where it should be. Flower looks great against green bg.
Thanks, Anita. it took a while to find the right angle for the background – getting low worked best, as usual.
A beautiful picture of this beautiful flower.
Thanks – this bloom really stood out from the group in the meadow.
A wonderful photo Tom, and a really beautiful flower. I’d love to have it in my garden, it has such a beautiful colour.
I think the flower is a sport or odd combination of color genes – I’ve seen pale pink ones in this spot, but nothing with this rich color. I should go back and collect seeds…thanks for the kind words!
absolutely gorgeous 🙂
