Melting snowflakes
Our first snow came while there were still bright fall leaves on the ground:
The snowfall started out as a light flurry. I knelt down and set up my high magnification lens on a tripod and looked for good snowflakes, first on mullein, then on this maple leaf. The snow was nicely crystalline, but it melted fast, making for a colorful but messy image. Then the snow started coming down harder – I paid no attention and got messy with snow as well.
Fantastic!

Nicely seen and works as both natural history and abstract art, Tom.
Thanks, Steve. It’s pretty cluttered, but I hope the leaf setting makes up for it.
This is a WOW photo for me.
Thanks, David!
Whoah! That’s some kind of macro lens!
That’s, Bela – yes, it’s not your every day macro lens – it goes to 5x magnification, 5 times more than the usual macro lens.
such a beauty 🙂
Thanks for commenting, Joshi!
