Lacy ice
Ice takes on a metallic look in the right light. These icicles were hanging from a pine tree, partially melted from the day before, frozen overnight. Morning light was just coming through clouds at the moment I took this:
The second opportunity I’ve had for an image like this – the other was a few years back.

so fragile and lacy.
Thanks – this is fragile stuff. You won’t see it when the winds are blowing…
This is a very delicate and attractive piece of fragile ice. I especially like the background colour and the contrast between warm and cold.
Thanks, Sandra. I’ve seen ice like this before, but not with the contrasting background color – the light was unusual.
Loved seeing your images tonight at the closing reception. This ice one has a wonderful contrast between the blue of the ice and the orange of the light.
Thanks for stopping in and commenting – it was great meeting you tonight at the closing.
Great image, Tom. And in reading your reply to Sandra I have my answer to the confusion I expressed elsewhere. 🙂 Anyway, it is a really delightful image.
