Really splendid. I’ve never been lucky enough to see one in person, thank you for the introduction. It’s always amazing to see the minute detail on petals, the complex designs.
Thanks! I just looked it up, Deptford pink is all over the US, except for AZ and ND, so you be able to find them. I’d look in fields and the edges of woods. The plant is tall (1 to 2ft) and slender, it can grow in groups.
Excellent, Tom. These and the Maiden Pinks pack a real wallop for such tiny flowers. The anthers can be very deeply colored which really creates quite a combination.
What a beautiful and dainty flower. I’m always surprised at all the flowers we can find in the woods. 🙂
There are so many – I should learn more. Deptford pink is one I keep going back to, tiny and intensely colored. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks, Steve – I should try a high magnification closeup to show the anthers and petal details, if I can find more of these blooming.
what a fantastic shot 🙂
Thanks, Joshi!
Excellent how the flowers repeat in the background.
The line of flowers was the idea for this image – it took a while to find the right grouping, with one in best focus. Thanks, Sandra!
Love these Tom, one of my favorite summer wildflowers !!
That’s two pictures in a row with excellent use of selective focus.
