Notes from the field, essays, and observations.
A rocky hill not far from where I live has hundreds of columbines flowering:
They seem to thrive in poor soil – in some spots (not this one) they grow in what looks like gravel.
I had purple, pink, and white Columbine at our old house. I miss their beautiful uniqueness, maybe I need to pick up more plants for here.
A flower that I love as well. I have some wild columbines in my yard.
wonderful colors and composition
Thanks! I tried many flowers and angles before settling on this composition…
beautiful as usual 🙂
I have some growing on my porch stairs, but they don’t flower.
What a shame – they do best with some sun. In my yard, they flower with a half day of sun. The wild ones I photographed are in a full sun location.
Yes, I have some in the sun. Their flowers were 3 feet high. Their foliage is lovely all summer. They are reseeding all over the yard.
I have one wild patch that has been gently spreading for some years, columbines are wonderful.
Yes, they are.
Beautiful….always loved columbine.
