Very nice, Tom. Reminds a bit of that Japanese Maple in Washington that gets photographed so often. Would love to find a specimen like that around here.
Guess don’t visit the landscape forum often enough…
Well, I haven’t visited it, or any other forum, in years so I am going by my memory which is quite suspect.
This reminds me of the Texas state champion live oak, both in size and shape. I enjoy seeing trees like this in autumn and winter, when their branches are less obscured by leaves. The fog and the grasses provide the kind of monochrome background that really lets the tree’s details stand out.
Perfect frame
Thanks! This is an image I’ve wanted to take for a while.

Thanks, Steve. I’ve never seen oaks like this in Massachusetts – and I’d love to get to Washington (state? DC?) to see the tree you mention.
It’s in Seattle’s Japanese Garden, Tom. https://photoseek.photoshelter.com/image/I0000EJDGr1dDKwg
It’s glorious…
I am sure it has shown up on NSN a few times.

This is a live oak – there is something about those curving branches that I love. One of many beautiful trees at this spot in California.
What a majestic tree!
The oaks in California have a special quality – there are many with as much character as this one.
That is amazing and looks so powerful 🙂
I just love trees like this. Well done Tom!
Thanks, Mark. I have another view I’ll post next…
Just magnificent. Once in awhile you
‘ll see a bur oak get like this here in northern Illinois.
I’d love to see one of your oaks – thanks for the kind words.
