The rocks at Muir beach

I made a recent visit to Muir Beach in California, just before a rain storm:

I used a long exposure to give the surf a misty look, and converted to black and white.

    • Thanks, Steve. The rocks and the surf were the attraction for me – the clouds had some texture. Some day I’ll visit there early and get a colorful dawn sky.

  1. I especially like the contrast between the sharp rocks and the blur of the surf’s edge. I’d say that you’ve given us a form of frozen surf, even if only in a freeze-frame.

    • It was bright overcast light, which brought out highlights on the rocks, providing the contrast. I wanted even more of a blur and an exposure of a minute or two, but an exposure of 2 or 3 seconds was the longest I could get with the filter I used.
