Ah, Muir Beach. In 2016 I first saw that part of the coast on a day more overcast and drizzly than what you show in your photograph. Some days later I returned on a blue-sky afternoon and enjoyed a brief stay on Muir Beach. our November 10 post from last year makes clear you got down to the beach there too.
The rocks in your photograph are wonderful. Yes, I was at Muir Beach last fall, but I was at the beach again a few weeks back, for the long exposure of the rocks at Muir Beach. I was just looking at the trail maps of the area to see if I could get down to the rocky shoreline visible in this overlook view. There’s an “Owl Trail” that goes pretty low along the headlands, I may give a try the next time I’m out that way.
Love that area
And most of the area is public open space (Golden gate national recreation area), with a nice trail system.
I love this coastline. I don’t know what it’s like now, but one of my favorite spots was the Point Bonita lighthouse. It may be overrun with tourists now, or perhaps not, since it wasn’t the easiest spot to get to. The views all along the headlands are wonderful, though.
It is beautiful- I can visit there once or twice a year, I’m looking forward to exploring the area. Point Bonita is a few miles south of this spot.
The next time you’re in Sausalito, don’t miss the Lighthouse Café, if you don’t know it. The Danish owners produce the best pancakes I’ve ever had — I recommend the blueberry.
I’ll have to stop in. Sausalito is only a few miles from where I stay.
I remember the Lighthouse Cafe! Mmmmm….. lucky you to get to go there a couple of times a year.
I’m always astonished how beautiful Marin county is. I am indeed lucky to go there so often (I have family in the area.) Amazing how I’ve never been to the Lighthouse cafe, given how many times I’ve been there over the years.
Do you think of moving there?
