Geranium

A cluster of wild geranium (Geranium maculatum) growing at the edge of a forest trail last month:

Time to take a break from photographing my backyard meadow. The poppies are almost gone now, replaced by a profusion of pink mallow blooms.

  1. After years of being certain geraniums were red, big, and sold at garden centers, I finally found our native geranium, which does resemble yours. There are some differences between them — this one’s larger — but the color’s remarkably similar. It’s especially fun that each of these flowers is facing a different direction: at least, slightly. I like that demure little bud, too.
