Waiting
A crab spider (a Misumena species) on the underside of a Black-eyed Susan:
The spider was waiting to pounce on a bee, and I was waiting for the spider to crawl to the upper side of the flower. After a while, I stopped waiting, and decided this image would be more interesting.
Spiders’ legs are often adorned with prominent hairs; here you swapped them out for the hairs on the black-eyed Susan. The spider was probably already yellow, with the light reflected from the yellow ray floret reinforcing the color.
Crab spiders appear to adopt colors, but this one was not as yellow at it appears here. The transmitted light made it look more yellow, as you say.
A set designer couldn’t have done better.
Thanks, Michael! I had to step away and come back to realize that I had an opportunity.
Amazing!!!
