Milkweed
Two views of Common Milkweed seed pods:

I’ve been photographing milkweed seeds for a long time. It’s a challenge to do something different. The first pod presented me with something new – the symmetrical cluster of seeds radiating from a common center, pinned to the end of a pod. The second one uses selective focus.
Milkweed seeds and silk are always fun to photograph. That’s a nice silky “star” in the first picture.
The star is something I’ll likely never see again!
Very nice Tom! Great images! Enjoyed seeing them!
Thanks, Reed!
Very gracious ! Nice cliché.
Thanks so much!
That faux blossom is very cool! And really like both shots.
The milkweed star was a happy discovery. Thanks, Robert!
I love the flower-like appearance of the fluff in the first photo. It’s really amazing; I can’t remember ever seeing such an image before. Beyond that, I’m a touch envious. I still haven’t seen any milkweed pods with fluff this year. Between our floods and our winds, I think our area’s fluff grew soggy or blew away.
I’ve been very fortunate, there are two locations nearby with lots of opening pods. This one is very unusual, open pods are pretty random, not symmetrical like this.
That first shot is a great find and capture, Tom. I’ve not seen a formation like that. Our pods are now all empty although I am sure there must be a couple hangerson.
