Fern curl
A sight on a snowy morning:

The snowy background was ideal for a simple image of a single stem. I found this on a cold morning when I was out looking for ice and crystals – this elegant shape was more interesting than the ice I found.

It’s a sort of naturalistic question mark.
Or perhaps a spiral.
It looks like a punctuation mark in your snowy sentence: perhaps an end to the question “How long until true spring?”
When I saw it at the right angle, it felt like a exclamation mark – but there’s no question that I’m looking forward to spring!
